The Free Ingredient To Up Your Wellness
You know, wellness isn’t just about being physically fit, but also emotionally and spiritually well. To achieve holistic wellness, we have to get adequate rest, manage our stress, eat well and be free of illness.
One of the FREE ingredients (where we have an abundance of) that can help us stay well is sunshine! It’s no wonder why health experts encourage us to go outside more often!
It’s Sunshine!
Here’s how getting some “Vitamin-Sunshine” is good for us:
It Improves Sleep!
Our body starts producing a hormone called melatonin when it’s dark. So being exposed to sunlight helps regulate our circadian rhythm by telling the body to increase or decrease melatonin levels.
It Reduces Stress!
The hormone melatonin is also responsible for lowering stress reactivity. When we can naturally regulate melatonin, it can help reduce our stress levels.
It Strengthens Our Immune!
Vitamin D is critical for our immune system to function well. When exposed to sunlight, our body produces this essential vitamin to keep us healthy.
It Fights Off Depression!
Sunshine boosts our body’s level of serotonin. It’s a hormone that improves our mood and helps us stay calm and focused. It explains why we feel gloomy when we don’t get enough natural light.
But…
Yes, I know, I know… Sunshine damages our skin, and we want to maintain our fair and youthful complexion, right?
That’s why the best time to bask under the sun is in the morning before it gets too intense. Speaking of fair and youthful skin… Did you know that dark chocolates are a great source of antioxidants and may help protect against skin damage?
That’s because they contain polyphenols, flavanols and catechins, among others. So, aside from helping keep our free radicals in check, they may also protect our skin from the sun because it improves blood flow to our skin and increases skin density and hydration. Interesting huh?
If that got you interested in dark chocolates, then you’re in luck! We’ve recently launched a new flavour, the Black Pepper & Chilli Dark Chocolate and a new gift box, the Petite Happiness Gift Box, to our artisan chocolate lineup.
